A gasifier is a device that converts biomass energy from solid to gas. Biomass is incompletely combusted by controlling the air supply in the gasification furnace to achieve the conversion of low-value biomass energy from solid to the gaseous state, generating hydrogen (H2), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), and more Gases with combustible components such as carbon hydrocarbons (CnHm) complete the gasification process of biomass.

The gas outlet temperature generated by gasification varies with the type of gasification furnace, which is between 350 ℃ and 650 ℃, and the gas contains impurities such as tar and dust that have not been completely cracked. Carry out cooling and purification treatment to reduce the temperature of the gas to below 40 ° C and control the tar dust content to be within 50mg / Nm3. After the gas is purified, it will enter the internal combustion engine to generate electricity.
In the internal combustion engine, the gas mixture air burns to do work, driving the main shaft to rotate at high speed, and then the main shaft drives the generator to generate electricity.

Biomass Gasifier For Thermal And Power Applications
Biomass gasification is a process of converting solid biomass fuel into a gaseous combustible gas (called producer gas) through a sequence of thermo-chemical reactions. The gas is a low-heating value fuel, with a calorific value between 1000- 1200 kcal/Nm3 (kilocalorie per normal cubic metre). Almost 2.5-3.0 Nm3 of gas can be obtained through gasification of about 1 kg of air-dried biomass. Since the 1980's the research in biomass gasification has significantly increased in developing countries, as they aim to achieve energy security.
Xingyuan independently began research work in gasifier technology in the mid-2010. Since the gasifier technology has been customized for a range of direct-heat application and tested successfully in the field. Silk processing, large-cardamom drying and gasifier-based crematoria are a few examples of the applications worked on at TERI. This technology is slowly replacing both traditional biomass use and gas-powered systems, as it provides an excellent de-centralized source of energy at an affordable cost.
